BLS Provider
American Heart Association “Basic Life Support” for Healthcare Providers
The BLS Provider Course trains participants who have a “duty to act” to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. Students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. The BLS Provider course is designed for healthcare professionals caring for patients in both prehospital and in-facility environments, such as hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare facilities including a dentist office or assisted-living facilities.
Students will complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. Upon passing the examination and skills tests, students will receive an AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification card that is valid for 2 years.
The BLS Provider course requires approximately 4 hours to complete, with time included for skills and written testing. This course costs $80 per student, and includes a student manual.
